Show the goal
Begin with what the group is trying to accomplish and what causes the session to finish. Use the actual rulebook for those facts. Do not substitute a summary from another edition because the title sounds familiar.
Demonstrate one ordinary turn
Name the decision, show the relevant components and state which information stays hidden. Keep the first demonstration separate from a competitive round if revealing it would affect a real choice.
Share the decisions
Let a new player make the next ordinary choice without a running commentary on the best move. In a cooperative title, an experienced player can clarify a procedure while leaving room for other opinions.
Record what needs checking
If a question is unresolved, mark the exact rule or example rather than inventing a confident answer. The game-night checklist includes a place for the rulebook and an agreed stopping time. These are hosting suggestions, not a teaching-time guarantee.
