The shape of play

The publisher introduces a game of gathering resources, trading and building settlements, roads and cities. That makes conversation and the changing shared position useful things to consider when discussing a session. “Strategy” is our broad directory label, not an official difficulty score.

The edition in this record

This entry is the current base game shown on CATAN’s official page. Its recorded range is three to four players and sixty to ninety minutes. A five-to-six-player extension is a separate requirement; this record does not quietly add those seats to the base box.

Before your first session

Check the language and rulebook supplied with your actual edition. Give the group time to identify the main resources and the way points are earned. If someone already knows another edition or an optional variant, agree what the table will use before starting.

What this introduction does not establish

We have not played this copy or tested it with an India-based group. There is no rating, performance verdict, local price or retailer-stock claim. The published duration is a planning estimate, not a measured session length. Allow additional time for setup and a first explanation.
